Direct the Team E-mail

Day 1: JAN 29, 2007

This is where you vote to direct the team on what to do

070125_CRICA_1631.jpg We have three possible story lines we could focus on in tomorrow’s Daily Dispatch, but we need your vote to decide which one to pursue.

According to preliminary results of the CRELES study by the Central American Population Center at the University of Costa Rica, compared to the average Costa Rican in the same age range, Nicoyans over the age of 60:

1) Have far lower cholesterol levels. High cholesterol is one of the major risk factors for heart disease.

2) Show considerably lower levels of blood triglycerides. High triglyceride levels are associated with a number of diseases and conditions, such as cirrhosis (a disease of the liver), diabetes and heart disease.

3) Suffer from far fewer incidences of obesity. The more obese a person is, the more likely he/she is to develop health problems.

Cast your vote for which Nicoyan health hint we should look into – cholesterol, triglycerides, or obesity – and we’ll shed some light on the mystery in tomorrow’s dispatch.
