Can love make you live longer? I hope so. I've devoted my life to it.
Ten years ago, I was a ninth-grader following MayaQuest, an interactive
expedition just like this one. I remember voting on the internet and
having a team of experts do what we wanted them to do, then reading
their reports. One day, I approached my teacher after class and told
her that when I grew up, I was going to be an expert on one of those
expeditions. She smiled at me the way grown-ups smile at kids when they
don't believe them.
